For this month's Kudos, we would like to highlight Henrico; this agency has demonstrated a high interview follow-up rate of 62%. This rate is on target to hit the 80% Follow-up Interview rate that SAMHSA requires.
We acknowledge that Follow-up Interviews can be tricky and challenging to capture. To support other CSBs and agencies, Henrico was able to share some of their best practices and tips with us:
“We utilize a collaborative team approach to complete GPRA surveys. We recognize that our wonderful peers connect with individuals on a different level than clinicians and case managers, and we have found it beneficial to have our peers facilitate GPRAs.
While our peers are responsible for conducting GPRAs, GPRA tracking and completion are a shared goal on our teams. Our supervisors, clinicians, prescribers, nurse, and case managers all communicate and collaborate regularly to get these GPRAs done! We utilize a shared document as our own tracking system.”
In short: “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
Tip 1: Choose a consistent day/time to discuss GPRA’s. This can be a separate meeting or an addition to a current meeting agenda. This keeps GPRA completion at the forefront of our minds and helps to establish GPRA completion as a shared goal amongst team members.
Tip 2: Develop and utilize your own shared tracking system. This allows the whole team to see a current and accurate reflection of GPRA due dates, as needed.
Tip 3: We recommend coordinating GPRA follow-up appointments with current standing appointment times.
Tip 4: Get creative and meet individuals where they are. This can mean going into a jail setting, or if you have mobile capacity, conducting GPRAs in the field.
