New SOR Reports

We are excited to share two new SOR reports! We hope to keep updating these reports on a quarterly basis to showcase updates across the state.

  • Quarter 2 Quarterly Progress Reports - this report focuses on SOR prevention, treatment, and recovery evaluation activities for the state in Quarter 2 (January to March 2021) and includes data from quarterly surveys, GPRAs, and PBPS (Performance Based Prevention System).

  • Jail Based MAT Report - this report looks at access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals with an opioid use disorder in local and regional jails. This report provides a current snapshot of services available across the state, as well as takeaways and challenges for implementing MAT in the justice setting.

Thank you for all your hard work to make these reports possible. Both reports can also be found on the Reports page of the SOR Support website. Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback.

Rollover Consent Form - Closing June 15 Reminder

As a reminder, the rollover consent form and process will conclude on June 15, 2021! As part of the transition to the SOR II grant in October 2020, OMNI launched the rollover consent form to allow for an easy transition of SOR I client GPRA information into the SOR II grant period, for those continuing to receive SOR-funded services in the SOR II period.

Timeline:

  • The 8-month no-cost extension of the SOR I grant for follow-up GPRAs will conclude at the end of May 2021 with all SOR I follow-up windows closing after May 31, 2021. As such, the rollover consent form will close two weeks after this on June 15, 2021.

  • After June 15, 2021, you will no longer be able to roll clients from SOR I to SOR II using the rollover consent form and will have to complete a new SOR II intake GPRA interview. Please be sure to complete the rollover form for all SOR I clients continuing to receive SOR II-funded services before June 15, 2021.

With around one month left before the rollover consent form closes, we encourage you to contact SOR I clients that are due for a follow-up and are continuing to receive SOR II-funded services to complete both the SOR I follow-up and a rollover consent form. To help with this, we have put a document in every agency's shared Dropbox folder named "May_Rollover_Check-In", that lists all SOR I clients (i.e., clients that could potentially be rolled over into SOR II if they are continuing to receive SOR II-funded services) along with whether they have a completed rollover consent form or SOR II intake GPRA completed as of Monday, May 10th. This document can help to identify any SOR I clients that are continuing to receive SOR II-funded services and have not yet completed the rollover consent form.

Please reach out to SORSupport@omni.org with any questions or needed support!

SOR I Regional Reports

OMNI is pleased to share Regional SOR I GPRA Reports! Similar to the state report, these reports contain aggregated intake GPRA data specific to the CSBs in each of the five regions from the entirety of the SOR I grant (June 2019 - September 30th, 2020).

These reports are identical to the CSB-level SOR I GPRA reports that were created earlier this year (CSB-level reports are located in CSB's individual Dropbox folders). We recommend using the Regional SOR I GPRA reports to better understand your CSB's individual SOR I GPRA report. Please note that only CSBs with at least 15 intake GPRAs in SOR I received a report.

Please review the five Regional SOR I GPRA reports on our Reports page!

If you have any questions or feedback regarding the report, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at SORSupport@omni.org.

BARC-10 Scores & Information Sheet

We wanted to share an update on a new information sheet and way to receive clients' BARC-10 scores after completing the GPRA with them.

The BARC-10 is a validated questionnaire that assesses an individual’s recovery capital through 10 questions that measure 10 domains of recovery capital. These questions are already asked on the GPRA.

We have now added a question to the end of the GPRA where you can enter your email address (or the email address of another staff member) to receive an email with a client's BARC-10 score. See screenshot from the GPRA below.

HHS’s Buprenorphine Practice Guidelines / SAMSHA COVID Resources

Here are two recent announcements you may find useful:

  • "In an effort to get evidenced-based treatment to more Americans with opioid use disorder, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is releasing new buprenorphine practice guidelines that among other things, remove a longtime requirement tied to training, which some practitioners have cited as a barrier to treating more people." Please click here for the full announcement released on April 27, 2021.

  • Training and Technical Assistance Related to COVID-19, compiled by SAMSHA. Includes resources, products, recorded webinars, and more. Click here for information.

Introducing the Virginia Social Indicator (VASIS) Dashboard

OMNI's SOR Treatment Team is pleased to share with you what we believe will be a useful resource. The Virginia Social Indicator Dashboard (VASIS) is a compilation of behavioral health data from agencies and organizations across the commonwealth of Virginia. The goal of the dashboard is to centralize key indicators of behavioral health and wellness to use as a resource for needs assessment, epidemiological monitoring, and planning.

The VASIS Dashboard is often utilized by the Virginia Block Grant and SOR Prevention teams at CSBs, but we thought you might appreciate having easy access to this aggregated information. At the website, you can view a number of data sets by source (e.g., VDH, BRFSS, Virginia Youth Survey, OCME, DBHDS, and others). A resources tab offers a VASIS FAQ and glossary, as well as epidemiological reports and additional data sources.

One particular area of interest to you may be the Community Snapshot section. The goal of the Community Snapshot is to summarize available data from multiple data tabs in a single report. A Community Snapshot can be created (and downloaded as a PDF) for any Locality or CSB in Virginia.

  • Each snapshot includes information on the case count, community rate, state rate, and community ranking for various data indicators including demographics, poverty, employment, fatality data (overdoses, suicide), health services, and justice indicators.

  • The community ranking can help to identify areas where a community is doing well and areas that need improvement or attention.

The Community Snapshot includes the most recent year of data that is available for each indicator.

We invite you to explore the VASIS Dashboard! Please feel free to contact the OMNI SOR Treatment Team if you have questions about the Dashboard.

For your convenience, we have also added a direct link to the VASIS Dashboard from our SOR Support Website in the Resources/Other Resources section.

Seeking Your Feedback on SOR Grant Management

We are more than halfway through the current SOR grant year! The SOR grant management team at DBHDS and the evaluation team at OMNI would like to hear your feedback on SOR grant implementation and management. This information will not impact grant funding; rather, it is to help us improve our processes and interactions with partners across Virginia who are receiving SOR funds. We appreciate your partnership on this grant and any honest feedback you can provide. The survey is anonymous and should take about 5 minutes to complete.

Reminder: Complete Survey by 4/30 about Subcontracted Services

This is a reminder about the survey that is currently posted to collect information from CSBs on if and how CSBs are subcontracting substance use treatment and recovery services. Please coordinate with your fellow staff members to have at least one person from each CSB complete this survey by Friday, April 30. It is just two questions long, so should be a quick task. Thank you for your support in compiling this information!
